So, it’s Friday afternoon, and here I am on my way up to Auckland to see a concert, which is pretty cool.
BUT – for the last hour or so, I’ve been stuck in traffic going at the speed of a snail, with no idea of what is going on or why there is so much congestion.
We’ve since found out that, in their infinite wisdom, the Works Department have decided to re-seal the road – ON A FRIDAY AFTERNOON – which is obviously causing a huge amount of congestion.
So all of this has got me thinking – the problem here is not so much that there is congestion, but that we don’t know what’s causing the congestion or how long it’s going to take us to get through it.
I guess there’s some good advice here for all of us – keep in touch with your customers, let them know what’s going on and what the implications are for them – because when people start having to guess as to what’s happening, things can become very very frustrating!
